Campus Status

UC San Diego continues to monitor the spread of COVID-19, working closely with local, state and national officials. For the latest updates to the campus community, visit the Current Campus Status page »

Masks are required on the UC San Diego campus — outdoors and in shared spaces indoors — following a new California mandate. If you are on campus without a mask, one may be provided or can be purchased at the UC San Diego Bookstore. In addition, a daily COVID-19 symptom and exposure screening is required for on-campus employees, while all students, faculty and staff are expected to practice physical distancing.

Fall Plan

Between now and the start of the fall quarter, UC San Diego will continue to operate amid great uncertainty. It is an uncomfortable feeling for many of us, requiring enormous flexibility, patience, resilience and grace. In all decisions, the health and safety of students, faculty, staff and local communities will be paramount. Read about current plans for the campus’s reopening Fall 2020.

About Return to Learn

The goal of the Return to Learn Program is simple: returning to what we do best—teaching, learning, conducting pioneering research and serving our communities. Several taskforce work groups consisting of faculty, students and staff were created to provide extensive evaluation, planning and preparations. Decisions have been guided by faculty and researchers at our School of Medicine, Wertheim School of Public Health and Longevity Science and UC San Diego Health in conjunction with current state and county public health guidelines.
