Wellness

It is more important now than ever to protect our mental health, and UC San Diego is pulling together as a community to respond. There are many new and existing resources available to help maintain mental and emotional wellness during the pandemic.

Mental Health Resources

Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS)

The CAPS Central Office at Galbraith 190 remains open for urgent care visits, while mental health counselors are offering support via tele-visits or zoom sessions. For more information, call 858-534-3755 or visit caps.ucsd.edu.

Faculty Staff Assistance Program (FSAP)

FSAP is open for business, with all sessions being conducted via Zoom or phone. Current and returning clients can contact their counselor directly by phone or email; new clients can request an appointment online. For more information, contact fsap@ucsd.edu.

UC San Diego Center for Global Mental Health (CGMH)

In light of the novel Coronavirus pandemic, the Center for Global Mental Health has curated a list of Wellness Resources and also highlights Lived Experiences of COVID-19 as critical sources of knowledge and understanding from multiple perspectives globally and locally.

Mindfulness and Meditation

Guided Mindfulness

UC San Diego’s Center for Mindfulness and the T. Denny Sanford Institute for Empathy and Compassion have joined forces with the Compassion Institute to provide daily live streams and recordings of mindfulness and compassion sessions.

Guided Meditation

UC San Diego’s Center for Mindfulness also offers guided meditation, body scan, mindful movement and other recordings.

Student Personal Wellness

UC San Diego Recreation offers undergraduate and graduate students a free, online health and fitness program. The seven-week course includes live sessions on goal setting, stress, sleep patterns and more through videos and articles that focus on one topic per week.

Movement

The Playground

UC San Diego Recreation has launched the Playground, a virtual space where students and the UC San Diego community can get active, creative, meditative and stay fit through online classes, informative articles and more.

  • Recreation Online offers a vast library of prerecorded content from Recreation trainers and instructors that can be accessed anytime.
  • Recreation Live classes are hosted via Zoom or Facebook/Instagram Live @UCSDrec. Schedules are updated weekly with the date, time and platform where they can be accessed.

Get Up Tritons!

The campus community is invited to sign up for Get Up Tritons, daily emails sent at 10 a.m., noon and 2 p.m. that provide short exercise video clips that teach how to reverse the negative effects of sitting.
