COVID-19 Vaccination Compliance
When Tritons care for Tritons, we keep our community safe. Vaccination remains one of the most important ways to keep our community healthy, and our goal is to to make compliance with the University of California COVID-19 vaccination requirement easy for you.
To meet the COVID-19 vaccination mandate, the university must confirm all campus members are fully vaccinated. Your vaccination information is securely housed in your employee or student health record. Only the vaccination status will be shared; clinical details will not be shared with the university.
Vaccination Status Definitions
What does it mean to be fully vaccinated?
- You have received a booster shot and it has been 7 days or more since your booster shot, or
- You have received the complete initial vaccination dose(s) and you are not yet eligible for a booster.
- At this time, the additional booster is not required to remain compliant with the UC Vaccine Mandate.
What is considered not fully vaccinated?
- You have received a booster shot and it has been less than 7 days since your booster shot;
- You have received a complete initial vaccine series and are eligible for a booster shot, but have not yet received one;
- You did not complete the initial vaccine series;
- You have not received any vaccines.
If you haven’t already done so, please submit your COVID-19 vaccination documentation as soon as possible. All students, staff and faculty must be vaccinated and receive a booster shot for COVID-19, or have an approved exemption or deferral, per University of California mandate. Requests for exceptions or deferral should be submitted as soon as possible so you do not risk non-compliance with the Policy.
Students and employees who choose not to be vaccinated and have no approved exception or deferral potentially put the health of others at risk and may face disciplinary actions or be unable to participate in on campus activities.
The vaccine mandate overview is available in Spanish here.
International Vaccines
All World Health Organization-approved vaccinations meet the UC vaccine mandate requirement. “Fully vaccinated” is defined as two weeks after the completion of any series of WHO-approved vaccines. Student Health Services will provide international students and visiting scholars with individualized guidance if they have not completed their vaccine series or require additional clinical guidance.
New Student Health Requirements
Incoming UC San Diego students must meet three health requirements by July 11, 2022. These include complying with the COVID-19 vaccination mandate, completing a TB Risk Screening Questionnaire and documenting proof of all required immunizations. For clinical and medical questions, please log into your MyStudentChart and send a message via “Ask a Nurse.” Students with questions about becoming compliant with the UC COVID-19 vaccination mandate can contact ucsdtha@ucsd.edu.
